500 Bourke Street wins Best Use of DALI+ at the DALI Lighting Awards
We’re proud to celebrate the success of 500 Bourke Street, Melbourne, which has been recognised as the Best Use of DALI+ at the DALI Lighting Awards.
Delivered in collaboration with Lightmoves, the award recognises an innovative lighting control solution that combines wired DALI-2 and wireless DALI+ technologies to create one of the world’s most advanced intelligent commercial buildings.
Following a $160 million redevelopment, the 34-storey office tower has been transformed into a premium workplace focused on sustainability, occupant wellbeing and long-term operational efficiency. Rather than replacing the existing structure, the redevelopment retained and modernised the building, supporting ambitious environmental targets while delivering a future-ready workspace.

At the heart of the project is a zencontrol lighting control solution that enables intelligent management across both the base building and tenant spaces. As tenant fit-outs continue, the installation continues to expand, with more than 18,000 DALI devices currently under management, including over 5,800 DALI+ wireless devices at the time of writing.
The combination of wired DALI-2 and wireless DALI+ has resulted in a highly scalable lighting control system capable of adapting as new tenancy fit-outs are completed. Integration with the building management system provides centralised monitoring, diagnostics and control, helping improve operational efficiency while simplifying ongoing maintenance.
500 Bourke Street is currently recognised as the largest DALI+ installation in the world, demonstrating how open lighting standards can support large-scale commercial developments without compromising flexibility or future expansion.
Delivering intelligent building performance
